Got my race bib!!!

I am getting very nervous (and excited) BUT mainly nervous for Sunday's race. It has been a long training season with a few small hiccups such as very cold weather and a nagging foot injury. I find once you get over 15 km or greater in distance  things can start to fall apart. I am really hoping it goes well. I love running and I just want a solid race. As long as I cross that finish line, upright and smiling (even if I have the worst time), I will be so very happy.

I am curious. Would anyone want the applique design from my tulip table topper that I made? If so, I can post the applique drawing.

I quickly drew up the tulip and used some charm squares to make the 9- patch. Then found some scraps to make the double border and binding.

The cutest quilt label

A couple weeks ago, I ordered the CUTEST quilt label from this super fabulous lady-Anne, in Texas. She does custom quilt labels and even hand embroiders them! I ordered mine from her Etsy shop The Quilt Label Lady. But you can also order from her website Quilted Lovelies.

I may have squealed with delight when I spotted the envelope in the mailbox today!!!

(I usually don't post items with my last name but they were just too cute to blur out.)

Comes with a added 1/4" seam allowance!

Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump

My bf and I went on a mini-road trip to Fort Macleod yesterday- about a 2 hour drive each way. We ran in the Willow Creek Wilderness Run (5k) and then headed to Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. On our way back to Calgary, we stopped in Nanton for lunch at the burger shack and hit up a very popular ice cream and candy shop.

2014 Annual Festival of Quilts- Calgary

Every year a quilt show is put on at Heritage Park. Beautiful quilts are hung up around the park to view. There is a merchant hall with store booths to purchase all kinds of fabric and kits. There were so many quilts, I didn't even see them all but the ones I did see were gorgeous. Of course, beforehand I was like "No no you won't buy anything." Obviously, that didn't happen.

Quebec City

Yesterday, I mentioned that I was in Quebec City last week. MommaBird was able to come with so that was super awesome.  We spent most of the down time shopping and eating! Quebec City is beautiful. We went on a caleche (horse and buggy) tour our first night. The following evening we toured around the upper part of Old Quebec City. The third day we went for lunch at this nice little pub- had the biggest bowl of mussels I have ever seen! Then we went shopping. I bought a few clothing pieces from a local designer, a new silver ring with amethyst and we bought matching mother-daughter purses. Mom bought the adorable green one and I got the purple-y one.  We enjoyed tons of bread, dessert and possibly a glass or two of wine. It was such a nice trip and really good to get away. The weather was chilly the first night but the rest of the days warmed up- especially the last day. It hit +30 with humidity.

Tulip Table Topper

It has been quite the busy month. I went to Quebec City last week, my half marathon is in 10 days and we leave for vacation in less than 2 weeks. I was still able to carve out some quilting time. I finished up this little table topper. I made it from a cute charm pack that Mom bought me in Havre, Montana.

The Mom & Me Quilt is Finished!

Once I got through all the quilting, I was able to make some serious miles on the binding. I just finished it up today. It hasn't been washed and my quilt labels are on order but it's 99.99% done.

Happy Friday!!!

Trying to get the lighting right was a tad hard but the first one is with a flash, the second is without and appears darker than it really is.
