Pumpkin Block 1- Applique Prep

Last night I traced out everything, prepped the fabric, cut and basted. I think this pumpkin-crow block is adorable but I hate the top left corner of the pumpkin. I am going to take it apart and shave off a bit of that edge. It's just too weird looking.

Happy Summer!

It has been far far too long since my last post (January). Some of my blog posts were affected by the "bug" on Blogger, and I just got annoyed and gave up for 6 months.

I haven't had much time lately to quilt- my job is quite busy and demanding. When I get home, I just want to make supper then kick my feet up for the night. It is a huge stress reducer (unless you are watching TV, miscalculate and are now an inch short of fabric that came in a kit from 4 years ago!) so I have gotten back on the wagon.

A friend at my LQS had won a Jan Patek quilt kit a while back and she didn't like it and gave it to me (SCORE!).

I don't have a light box so I use the window for tracing.

Love these homespun fabrics!

Downton Abbey

Have you seen Downton Abbey? It's a British period drama television show. It is super popular and we have been watching since it debuted. If there is one reason to watch this show, it is Dame Maggie Smith. She is amazing. I love her quick wits. Speaking of love- I LOVE my new Downton Abbey fabric (by Andover Fabrics) that I picked up this weekend. 10 FQs! No idea what I am going to do with them but they are gorgeous.

This week's progress on the baby quilt! The cat is starting to look more and more like a tabby ;)

Christmas progress

I finally got back to the baby quilt I am making. Unfortunately, "Georgi Giraffe" isn't going to work- the fabric in the kit is definitely not suitable for hand applique. I changed it up and am going to add this adorable orange tabby cat instead. The design is from My Favorite Things by Cabin Fever Designs.

A busy few months!

Looking back on this year, I wish I had gotten more quilting in. The last couple months have been pretty crazy. We went to Jamaica, we got ENGAGED, had a medical emergency, moved and now it is Christmas. We are finally getting unpacked this week so I sorted all my fabric, set up the table and I am ready to start.

Here are some random photos from Jamaica and the farm!

Hope to have more quilting photos soon!

It's Winter Here in Canada

Yesterday, it snowed and snowed all day. First day of November and the first real start of winter. Luckily, I booked my car in for winter tires- just started snowing when I went to pick up the car from the shop. Perfect timing.

I finished my birds quilt top.

Last weekend, I visited my parents and the puppy!

Check one item off the bucket list

Thanksgiving weekend we ran our first marathon! It was a rough go, I dislocated a tendon (which I found out later at the emergency) at 30 km. There was an audible "pop" and horrible pain but I managed to run through it to finish up the 42.2 km. I ended up with a bad time but considering the circumstances, I am pretty happy. I got my medal AND an aircast. It was worth it to not quit at 30 km, even though it sucked royally.

Now that I have 3-4 weeks off from running, I can focus on more quilting. :)

I finished up the quilt top center, I am starting the applique of the giraffe this week. I love the neutrals and browns fabric.
